The Most Ethical Tech Companies: Apple and Microsoft

If you’re looking to invest in technology, your first step should be to find companies that have strong ethical track records. While tech as a whole has traditionally been associated with an anything-goes mentality, some of the top players in the industry have recently been working hard to clean up their acts and shed their less-than-ethical images. By putting ethics at the center of their business model, Apple and Microsoft have managed to climb the ranks on this list of the most ethical tech companies out there today. Here’s how they stack up against each other and against their rivals in other sectors of the industry.

The Basics

We all know that technology can be a force for good or evil. But what about the companies that make our favorite gadgets and apps? Are they ethical? What are their values? How do they treat their employees, customers, partners, and other stakeholders? Who sets their ethics policies?

A new study conducted by The Good Ethics Guide in conjunction with The Reputation Institute has found that Apple and Microsoft are the most ethical tech companies in America. The two firms came out on top of a list of 50 tech giants – and were ranked higher than any others on measures of trustworthiness, respect for others, environmental responsibility, innovation capability, compliance management efficiency, philanthropic endeavors – and how well they ensure employee rights. Other brands to rank highly included Google (12th), Facebook (20th) IBM (21st), Dell (23rd) Oracle (24th), HP Inc. (25th).

This is not to say that these firms have perfect records – but then again who does?

 10-Year Transparency Scores

Ten years ago, corporate transparency was a thing of dreams. Today, it’s a reality for many companies, including tech giants Apple and Microsoft. In fact, these two companies have topped the list of most ethical tech companies for the past decade.

Empower Employees

One way to create a ethical tech company is to empower employees. This can be done in a number of ways, such as ensuring that there are policies and procedures in place to protect whistleblowers, or providing training on how to handle sensitive data. By empowering employees, you create a culture of trust and transparency that can help prevent unethical practices from taking root.

Donate Free Products and Services

When you donate products and services, you help reduce environmental waste while also supporting a worthy cause. Many charities are happy to accept gently used items, which means your donation can have a significant impact. Plus, it’s a great way to declutter your home or office.

Donate Free Money

Are you looking for a way to make a difference? A new study has found that the most ethical tech companies are Apple and Microsoft. These companies have been rated highest for their environmental policies, human rights practices, and overall transparency. If you’re looking for a way to support these companies, consider donating money to their causes. Every little bit helps!

 Innovative CSR Initiatives

Apple is well-known for its commitment to environmental sustainability, and its innovative CSR initiatives reflect that. The company has set a goal to be completely powered by renewable energy, and it recently achieved that milestone in its facilities worldwide. In addition, Apple developed a recycled aluminum alloy that it uses in its products, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

Comply With Local Laws

When starting a business, you must comply with local laws. Depending on the type of business, there may be different regulations you need to follow. For example, if you are starting a restaurant, you will need to comply with food safety laws. Failure to comply with these laws can result in fines or even jail time.

No Controversy In Recent Years

It’s no surprise that Apple and Microsoft are at the top of the list of most ethical tech companies. Both companies have a long history of being good corporate citizens, and they’ve avoided any major controversies in recent years.

Full List of Criteria & Methodology

In order to be considered for the list, companies must score at least 60 points out of a possible 100. The criteria used to determine a company’s score are: animal welfare, environmental impact, human rights, responsibly sourced minerals, supply chain management and transparency.
