Controlling your Android device from Chrome just got easier with Vysor!
We have some exciting news! In today’s update to Chrome on Android, you can now connect your devices to your computer via USB and control them using Vysor! This will work even if your device isn’t rooted and you don’t have USB debugging enabled. If this sounds cool to you, keep reading for step-by-step instructions on how to get started with Vysor. (Note that these instructions are specific to Chromebooks running Chrome OS, but the setup should be similar on other platforms.)
What is Vysor?
Vysor is a program that allows you to use an Android device as a mouse and keyboard for any computer running Google Chrome. It works the other way too; if you’re at home on your laptop, you can control your phone or tablet from afar using the same connection. It can be really useful if you want to give someone access to their emails on the go, or perform some advanced troubleshooting without having to be physically present. All you need is an android device and a computer running Google Chrome.
What Can I Do With It?
Imagine not having to take off your headset to charge or change an application. It’s easy enough if you’re only running one app at a time, but when you need to do more than that it can get hectic. That’s where remote access programs come in handy! Enter Vysor, a free and pretty great way to remotely access any of your Android devices right on the screen of your desktop browser. Now there are a lot of different remote access options out there, but what sets Vysor apart is that it doesn’t require any software installation (either on the client or the server side) in order for it to work. The app is only two megabytes in size and automatically installs its own server-side component without requiring anything from you at all.
Why Use an External Display?
The newest trend in remote desktop software is the use of an external display. This allows users to mirror their screens and view the content on a bigger screen for better viewing, working in public spaces, or when there is simply not enough room for two people on one screen. Mirroring also has its downsides, such as having to move backwards and forwards between tabs or scrolling back up the page every time you want to see something again.
Vysor allows users to remotely control their phone using any computer with a browser by connecting to an external monitor that functions as the second screen. The app then displays everything on that monitor and mirrors the phone’s display so that both screens have what’s being shown in it.
When Should I Use It?
Vysor is a powerful tool to use when developing and testing apps, but also has other uses. Connect your phone or tablet to a screen via USB and use the mouse like you would in Windows or OSX. Make sure the device can be seen by the computer by adding it as an additional display, then click Virtual > Start Virtual Device. You should now see a window that shows the live feed of what’s on your Android device.

With vysor, you can see your android devices display in any computer with a Chromium based browser running. It is cross-platform which means that you can use it on Windows, Mac, Linux or Chromebook.
